According to Weezer’s website, the bands will combine their songs together on the same stage “into one massive gargantuan supersetlist. The bands will trade off setlist segments, switch off songs, share the stage and get loose and crazy together. No one is quite sure yet how it’s gonna go, but everyone is super excited!”

Weezer and Flaming Lips tickets are available for two side-by-side shows: July 28 in Holmdel, N.J., at the PNC Bank Arts Center and July 29 in Wantagh, N.Y., at the Nikon At Jones Beach Theater.

The Lips also have a handful of solo gigs lined up at the Great Saltair in Magna, Utah, on Sept. 17; the Eagle Park Pavilion in Eagle, Idaho, on Sept. 19; Portland’s Keller Auditorium on Sept. 20; and Rochester’s Main Street Armory Oct. 25.

“This concert series is the best of both the old and the new world,” says Malcolm Campbell, SPIN’s publisher.  “Not only are we helping to produce incredible live music, the cornerstone of SPIN since its inception, but we’re able to broadcast it to fans all over the world with our partners at American Express on the web.”

Each night will feature five hours of nonstop live performances.

The video begins with a warning: “…may not be suitable for children or sensitive adults.” Let me tell you, this isn’t something you want to be watching while you eat your breakfast. That’s because the video is a concoction of tortured hostage, painting in blood, a monkey and…well, I’ll let you see the rest for yourself. All the while, the Lips are singing in the background, “What does it mean? What does it mean?”

In other news, the Flaming Lips are just days away from their North American summer tour, which kicks off on July 3 in Oxford, Maine, and runs through Oct. 16 in Boca Raton, Fla., with the exception of five overseas performances in August.
